Meet the Coaching Staff

Head Coach: Lance Westberg

I am in my 3rd year of coaching with MN Triple Threat and in my second year of taking care of the behind the scenes work such as recruiting, budgeting, planning and scheduling. Originally, I am from River Falls, Wisconsin where I once again reside after graduating in 2009. In 2013, I graduated from the University of Northwestern-St. Paul with a B.S. degree in Educational Studies in Math. Now I am completing my Math license at UW-River Falls and coaching the Varsity Reserve team at River Falls High School. At River Falls High School, I was a three-year letter winner and starter on the Varsity basketball team while also earning two letters in football. In college, I was a four-year letter winner at Northwestern and a two-year starter. In my time at Northwestern, my teams went 81-32 while winning 3 regular season conference championships, 3 conference tournament championships, made 3 NCAA National tournament appearances, and won an NCCAA National tournament. In my free time, I enjoy cutting wood, playing cards, and spending time with family and friends.

Top Assistant Coach: Nathan Bellefeuille

Nate is in his first full year of coaching with Triple Threat after coaching part-time last year in both practice and tournaments. He will step up be a bench assistant, while being more involved in practices. Nate is originally from Frazee, Minnesota where he excelled in football, basketball, and track. He also graduated from high school in 2009. In 2013, he graduated from the University of Northwestern with a degree in Elementary Education. He is now a 4th grade teacher in the Mounds View School District. While at Northwestern, Nate played basketball for two years. Nate serves in the Army Reserves, and is happily engaged to be married in June.

Assistant Coach: Steven Willey

Steven is in his second year coaching with Triple Threat. Last year, Steve was an assistant coach who worked primarily with guards. He is majoring in Marketing and is set to graduate in May 2014. Steven is a senior this year at the University of Northwestern-St. Paul. He is the lone senior on the Men's basketball team and is the starting point guard. Steven will push guards in practice with his pesky defense, quickness, and play-making ability. He is originally from Fort Calhoun, Nebraska, but now resides in Roseville, Minnesota.

Assistant Coach: Tyler Cate

Tyler is in his first full year of coaching with Triple Threat. Last year, he served as a substitute assistant during some tournaments. Tyler is very eager to start his first season with Triple Threat. His coaching mentality will be centered around hard work and hustle. Tyler says, “Talent can be taught, hustle and hard work cannot.” Tyler is originally from Lead, South Dakota, but now is a junior broadcasting major at the University of Northwestern-St. Paul. Tyler played on the Men's basketball team at the Northwestern for two years before accepting a radio broadcasting position with the Minnesota Timberwolves this year. Tyler does some recruiting and will help with the guards this year.
